2014 Goals for Home

This year our home will be more useable.
More comfy and conducive to the way we live.
I will try not to be influenced by trends unless I love them.

No more worrying about "staging" or staying neutral for resale.
No home store copy cat.
We live here.
More color in every room.
A happy, creative home.

No worries about what someone else will think.
This is our house, not some show house.
More fun, less serious decorating.

A home where we can really live, every day, without stress.
Where projects can be worked on, meals cooked, games played...
and where guests can feel free to kick off their shoes and relax.

Are you with me?
What are your plans for your home this year?

Yours, P.

Soooo with you. After having our house on the market 3 1/2 years ago it was hard to get back to normal. Even though Hubby keeps talking of moving, I have no desire. I want to live in my style. If we were to list again.....I am not staging. Good for you. I hope it is a good year for you. How's your Mom doing?

Mine has always been that way. No way I can change. With seven children all 13 to 14 months apart..except the last (I managed to get five years in there) ...our home had to be exactly as you describe. Yep..that's home!
I mess with things in my home like crazy..but staging? :) No time for that. Follow trends? Not sure..but I love to be comfortable and cozy..I simply change with the seasons..but I don't call that following trends. For me that's just part of homemaking.
Your way of homemaking sounds..perfect!

Hi Pam, I found you on cohesiverandomness. I sooo agree with you. One thing I'm learning is home is what you make it. Everybody has different tastes and styles, so if you like it, find a place for it in your space and be happy. Well, my current plan for my home is too finish my living room since I gave my daughter's all my furniture.

Pam, I couldn't agree with you more! In the past I've been influenced by a lot of trends. This year I decided to decorate my home so it suits my family more. Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts!

Oh Pam! Amen! I had given up blogging because I just have no time to stage and re do all the time. I could not constantly change to fit trends. But I was comfortable and happy with my home. Now I am seeing that others feel the same way. Thank you for making me feel less alone!
Love,
Sue
