Pink Front Door???

Hey all, I need a hand.
Actually I need an eye...
for color...

I got a bit obsessed with AS Antoinette pink.
Now my front door is pink.
I am having second thoughts.
Pink and red are my favorite colors so it isn't that I don't adore this shade...
I am just back and forth on the pink front door.

This door has been purple and red and for the last several years a kind of spring green.
I got tired of that.
What do you think?
I just cannot make up my own mind on this one.

Oh and while we are at it, what can I do about the horrible concrete steps?
I know, I only asked for one favor and now I am piling on,
but seriously,
it is UUUUUgly.

Looking from this angle, with no pink just red and white, I am tempted to go charcoal.
I considered white but that would just disappear.
What will I do with the Halloween dec this fall?
Of course black and orange with a bit of pink can be quite pretty.
Please give me a few opinions.
Pink or no?
Love it, love it not?
While we are on the subject I must give props to Annie Sloan paint.
I did not wax this door per the instructions for painting exterior surfaces with AS.
This is the first time in the 19 years we have lived here that the dogs have not been able to scratch through the paint in their effort to learn to use a doorknob.
It's a miracle I tell ya!

Next project is wrapping those posts with more wood and adding molding to beef them up a bit.
Wow, looking from this angle it needs a LOT of work.
First I have to finish my pine straw mulch.
Did I mention it is 105 here?
Not a fun job.
I will be awaiting your comments.

Busy in the Garden

...and everywhere else.
Not sure how people keep up with all that must be done.

I am giving it my best.
Sure wish I had a crew to help.
Or a posse.
Or maybe just a maid?

20 Thrifty Finds

Actually, 19 garage sale finds for $15 and one freebie.
Took a little cruise on Rte. 50 in Indiana to check out a few yard sales
after seeing Prometheus with hubs yesterday.

Has anyone seen it?
What did you think?
I admit I am a bit of a Sci Fi geek, especially if there are some scares thrown in.
The first Alien remains one my top ten fave sci fi /horror movies.
My son and his friend Gabe asked me to see it with them Friday
because my sweet boy knew I could hardly wait for the premier.
I was focussed on City Flea and couldn't take the time.
They returned a bit disappointed.
Joe said he would wait until I saw it to tell me why.
I thought it was visually pretty awesome and the idea was interesting, but...

How did we get on this subject?
Back to yard sales.
Sweet little haul from a charming gentleman who buys storage units at auction.
Just like Storage Wars.
We learned quite a bit about the process from him.
Great finds plus a bit of education thrown in.
Not bad for $15!

My other find was a freebie straight from God's hands.
This otherworldly little fellow was perched on the tag
of one of my porch plants that are waiting to be repotted.

What an amazing creature.
Notice he is sporting a trendy color scheme of Charcoal and Orange.
Faux fur of course with micro suede wings.
Nothing but stylish here at Frippery Farmhouse.

Like a little insect teddy bear.
Actually he isn't all that small by bug standards.
Kind of a giant really.
Perhaps a little over three inches from head to whatever the end of a moth is called.
I shared another moth with you here but I think this guy has him beat in a beauty contest.
At least a bug beauty contest.

What a gift to discover this morning.
Every day is so full of blessings if we take the time to notice them.
I am thankful to have been visited by this small exquisite being.

Now about those aliens.
Discussion anyone?

Yours in gratitude, P.

City Flea Cincinnati

May I say the City Flea yesterday was Fan.Tas.Tic?!?
So much so that I did not have time to take a single photo.
Energy and creativity at the heart of our beautiful city of Cincinnati,
the historic neighborhood of Over the Rhine.
You know I tend to blather on about Cinci so click the links if you want to see more.
Much as I love doing the farm and fairground shows
an urban market is just so vibrant.
People, music, food, art...
Makes me happy.

I have a few pictures of what I took from the mock up I did in our driveway at Frippery farmhouse.
I wanted to know how I was going to set up before arriving.
My awesome set Starlite china sold. I loved it and secretly wanted it to come back home.
Shhh don't tell.
The London and Paris prints are gone too.

I met some fabulous people, made some great connections, was right next to my Junque buddy Carrie (who I hope managed to get a few pics although she was swamped too), and just had a marvelous day with hubs and dear daughter Sadie.
Who BTW, made these sweet dandelion seed in resin earrings.
I love the effervescent quality of the tiny bubbles.

This charm is my favorite.

My spoon and fork are gone too.
Do you have pangs of regret each time you let a carefully chosen piece go?
I wouldn't have bought them if I didn't love them.
I am glad someone else loves them too.

Table and metal container gone too.
I am hoping Sadie has some photos I can share from her phone...
later...
We have to unload the Forrester yet...
Then a nice relaxing Sunday dreaming of what comes next.

Yours in the next great adventure, P.

Bambi Makes a Magical Visit

A sweet visitor came calling yesterday morning.
I managed to get a fews photos through the kitchen window.

We see deer in our yard all the time but when mama doe brings
one of her little ones it is a special occasion.
Usually the fawns do not venture this far from the woods.

Oh oh, I can see this visit is about to come to a close.
Thanks for calling you beautiful creatures.

Yours in wonder, P.

Don't forget to stop and see Frippery at City Flea on Saturday!

Painted Furniture, City Flea and a Clean House

Haha, Gotcha, there is no clean house here.
Not while I am preparing for City Flea and possibly another fair this weekend.
(Have do decide how much hauling I am really up for...)
I also completed a custom project for a friend and neighbor.

This sweet little piece will be a bedside table for her summer house in Montana.
It was a very dark, uniform brown.
This was a cabinet from her dear mother and father-in-law's home.
They had both passed away in the past few years and this piece had great sentimental value.

Just needed to be prettied up a bit to suit the lake house.

A mix of French Linen, Provence and Duck Egg Blue paint to the rescue.
I added dark wax to highlight the molding and
give a nod to the age of the piece.

The colors will reflect the lake and the Montana sky at dusk.

A hint of a monogram on the door to finish and give reference to this little cabinet's family heritage.
Sweet, non?
Once the marble top is in place I think this cabinet will be perfect for holding many a good bedtime reads while my friend's relax for the summer.

Frippery will be at City Flea this Saturday.
Lot's of vintage goods, artsy craftsy, music and scrumptious eats.
If you are in the Cincinnati area stop by and say hey.
Carrie will be there too.

Oh and really, that clean house part was an absolute joke.

Morning at Frippery Farmhouse, Glamour Shot Fail

Morning light in the entry.
Reality check, dust bunnies the cat dragged from beneath the cabinet.

Try again, less dust, no cat.

Shot from waist height to hide the laundry basket waiting to be dealt with.

Light hits the bookshelves at a perfect angle.
You can see my dining room in the background cluttered with pieces awaiting paint.

Trying to block messy dining room in this shot.
Hmmm, not quite there, and why is there a piece of paper on the dining room floor?

I give up.
Life , and homes, are not meant to be perfect.
Living goes on here, and work and play.
BTW you should see what is stacked just out of sight behind the bookcases.
Piles of junk waiting to be priced.

Just a little reality check here at Frippery Farmhouse.

Your in imperfection, P.

PS Speaking of imperfection, what happened to Playlists pop out player.
No more music here at Frippery I guess.
