Echanted Studio

Last week we took a little road trip to Columbus, Ohio.

To a neighborhood of stately homes,

each lovelier than the next.

Just dreamy.

We reached our destination.

Inside this carriage house is a place of wonder, where magic can be found. Inside these walls, charms and amulets to use in creating art and many and varied types of tools and supplies to bind a book of dreams, a journal of magic, reside.

Of course you will also find European Papers.
This is an enchanted place. If you ever find yourself in Columbus, do not miss it.
I promise myself that I WILL NOT miss their paper arts event, Artiscape, next year. Anyone want to join me?
Have a delightful Derby Day, P.

More for Me!!!

I may sound like I am greedy and gloating but... I have more stuff to show you!
While I was in Chicago I won 2, yes two, you heard right TWO Give Aways!!!
The first was a seat in Johanna Peterson's class Designing with Scraps at mycreativeclassroom.com.

This is one of the darling projects from the class that Johanna created. The best part has been learning great ideas about how to use and store all of those left over pieces of paper and ribbon and embellishments instead of running out to buy more or throwing away pieces that seem to small to use. She has some wonderful ideas.

I also won Chantal's Give Away at her blog Wishblooms.
It is a kit to make one of her fabulous embellished crosses. This is her first Give Away and I was so honored to win!

I was able to choose my color scheme and Chantal put the kit together just for me. I will show the finished piece by the end of the week. (I have learned to start setting deadlines in order to accomplish anything!)
I met Chantal and her mom Maryse, at Silver Bella last year. They are two of the loveliest, classiest and dearest women you would ever want to meet.
Chantal is hosting her second annual art workshop event, called Tidbits and Tassels in August.
Guess what? I am going to go! I get to meet up with sweet Chantal and Maryse again, in Texas. (My favorite state to visit. If they ever decide to secede I want fair warning so I can become a citizen!!!)
Even better, I am flying early in the week to Louisiana to meet up with my girls Jodie, of Everything Vintage and Sandy of Sew Revived, to spend some time hanging and laughing and creating at Jodie's house. I didn't get to go last year and was soooo jealous that Sandy got to visit without me.
This will be Jodie's second Tidbits and Tassels and I was drooling over her photos from last year!
Of course these are the two gals that spoiled me rotten on my birthday. I am bursting at the seams with all the fun coming up this year.
Enough celebrating for me for the moment.
How is your year shaping up so far.?
I hope it looks as promising as mine!
Have a tremendous Tuesday, P. (I am going back to my alliterations again Debbie!)
P.S. I have also decide to turn my playlist back on, I just can't live without a soundtrack.

Birthday Gifts From Two Beautiful Women

Warning!!! If you read this you will be jealous...
I celebrated my birthday on Sunday, went to lunch with the fam and then I had a work meeting to attend at 6PM. (BTW the lia sophia girls had cupcakes, a gift and they even made me stand while they sang Happy Birthday, so it wasn't a bummer to have a meeting that night.)
Then...I got these in the mail...

What is more wonderful than a package from the mailman, with all of the possibilities it holds? How about two packages?

Not one to ponder too long on what might be contained within these tempting boxes, I promptly tore into the first...

Sweet Ms. Jodie LeJeune, my bestest Cajun buddy sent me a lovely rose printed card as well as one of her signature tags. Gorgeous!

Look what else! One of her beautiful stuffed hearts with a darling button tag attached, Everything Vintage of course.

One side is just as perfect as the other. This is one talented gal, if you don't already know that.  Jodie, thanks so much for remembering!

Then of course I had to rip open the other package... Another rose on this card from sweet Bella best friend and roomie Sandy, who made me laugh so hard I couldn't breathe.

The cute little heart tag inside says it all.

The things that we love tell us who we are.

Well Sandy, I definitely love you!

There were little packages inside the big package to open. Lavender flowers made from netting...

Pink floral pins created from knitted trim...

A packet of words to inspire.

Adorable paper doll fabric, to encourage me to sew a bit.

An unbelievable bracelet of buttons and snaps keeping with Sandy's blog theme Sew Revived.  This gorgeous pendant of glass and filigree.

As well as a CD of images to use in my collage work and a box of chocolates filled with peanut butter from her home town. (These, alas, are already gone, tee hee)

Girls, you overwhelm me with your generosity and talent. How could I ever want for two better friends. I wish we lived within shouting distance instead of spread out across the country.
Jodie and Sandy, I am sending you big hugs. Hope we get to reunite soon. Love you both!

Have a wonderful weekend, P.

Tradition and Technology

Went to Winnetka this week for our nephew's Confirmation.
On the way I had to nab about a zillion shots of the windmill farms in Indiana.

Played with the photo's a bit to emphasize what I find to be the "stately" quality of these structures.

I find them to be strangely beautiful.

When the farm buildings sit beneath these peaceful giants, working constantly to power our homes, the contrast of tradition and technology is fascinating.

How do you feel about them?

Friend or foe?

Beauty or beast?

Knock knock...Who's there?

Orange...Orange who?

Orange ya sick of these windmill pictures?

Sorry, I try my best to be thoughtful and introspective but inappropriate humor always creeps in. At least I resisted the urge to shout "Auntie Em Auntie Em, it's a twister!"
Or not...
I will be emailing the swap participants their partner's names tomorrow. If you still want in speak now...
Have a great weekend, P.
P.S. I really do find a certain beauty in them.

Uptown, Downtown Weekend

I didn't make ANYTHING this weekend to show you. I also managed to stay away from the computer. Just enjoyed dinner with friends, visited the boy, and generally hung out around town.

Had dinner on Saturday with friend's at Prima Vista. Yum yumm yummy! Sitting on a hill overlooking the city in the distance as the sun set and the lights began to twinkle. This is the view before we entered the restaurant. I wish I could share the view after sunset but by then we were having too much fun and I didn't think to take a decent photo. Take my word, it was lovely. Get a taste, here.

Definitely an uptown, downtown kind of weekend.

Sunday we cruised from the (used to be) country, through the suburbs and back to town again, to visit the boy.

What a glorious spring weekend we had!

 Downtown to visit college boy...

If it wasn't for the cars and the overhead wires we could be stepping back in time...

I guess the satellite dish would be a give away...

I have a fondness for urban streetscapes.

View from college boy's porch.  A pleasant Sunday afternoon.

Back uptown to pick up some of college girl's art work.

A touch of uptown street scenes around U.C.

Back home again, to the largest dog bed we have ever owned...

As hubs would say, we are "Living the dream..."
Happy Tuesday, P.
Don't forget to sign up for my swap, here.

I will pair up partner's at the end of the week so we can start on our journals with plenty of time to make them fabulous.

Made a few changes to my blog etc.
  1. Turned automatic music off.
  2. Just completed a Web Design class through U.C. Now that I know html I may create my own site. (Takes time)
  3. Going to start painting again, maybe I will share for sale when I feel confident.
  4. Changing my daily post list since I haven't been following it very well.
  5. Post a to do list to make myself get things done...hmmm.
What do you think? I love music but hear over and over that you shouldn't have it play automatically on a blog. So I am going with the flow on this one. It is still there if you want to hear it. Just click.
The rest is for my own personal enrichment, after all, it really is all about me, hee hee.
