100th Post and a New Year Give Away!

Wow, post 100! I have been holding off on posting because I wanted to make it perfect. Then I realized that defeats the whole purpose. Perfection is unobtainable and only wastes time when we try to strive for it. So one of my objectives in 2009 is to BE REAL, not wear myself out trying to achieve some ideal that in the end has no merit . An ideal that steals time and energy from the moments of real importance in our lives. To that end I am going to join Melissa at The Inspired Room as she follows 12 monthly goals. She posts words of inspiration we can share with one another by linking to her Friday Beautiful Life Linkys. You may have your own goals for the year as well. I believe we can always be blessed with inspiration from the reflected brilliance of others.
I have been so inspired by all my new blogging friends who I have connected with these past few months. You make my day and make my mind spin with all the thoughts and ideas that you share with all of us kindred spirits.
You reassured me that it was fine to leave my bit of winter holiday hangover blingy up for the dreary first month of the year. It reminded me of a Girl Scout song. "Make new friends but keep the old, One is silver and the other gold." You are my silver friends, shining with a slightly tarnished patina of mellow beauty. Soul sisters to the core. Thank you for all the encouragement, kindness, entertainment and inspiration you provide. You have added a delightful new dimension to my life.
So, my first thought for 2009 is BE REAL. To be true to what I love and care for, not what I think I should do because it is someone else's ideal. If I like a trend I will embrace it, not because it is trendy but because it reflects my aesthetic. I will also surround myself with the things that speak to me regardless of the fashion of the moment. I will not let others influence me negatively. Kind words, deeds and thoughts are my goal.
Ms. TnT has a new club for us that reflects many of these same feelings. If you are of a like mind then join the Junking Women Lovers Club and be a Jewel. Go to Talkin Trash and grab a crown!
Isn't it lovely? Like Debbie herself. So join up! I know she would welcome all new members.
Which leads me to a second word, PARTICIPATE. Be in the moment and do not let life experiences pass by without joining in fully. I tend to sit back and observe but, no more, I am going to stick my neck out and try new things. Failure isn't fatal but missing out on life may as well be.
The third word is CREATE. I will make time to make things. To do art, to write more, to reinvent myself. These will be the words I start with this year when I make a list of goals. A guideline for those goals, so to speak. A spark to keep the fire burning in me. (and restart it if necessary)
To celebrate my 100th post and all my shiny new friends please leave a comment about how you will choose to live this year. Or write a post about it with a link back to me and let me know in the comment section. If a new reader comments from your post I'll enter you twice. I will be working on CREATING a REAL one of a kind gift to send to one of you lovelies for PARTICIPATING. (I'll keep the give away open until Friday at midnight.)
May all your goals and dreams come true this year.
Thanks for becoming my friends and allowing me to share in your lives.

Have a Real Monday, P.

I am fortunate lady indeed to get to be blessed by your words. Pam, these aren't objectives-these are life mottoes. In fact, they need to be stitched on a sampler to be seen everyday. Be Real, Participate, Create!!! No one but you could have said it better.(And I bet you had your lipstick on when you were typing) Congratulations on a beautiful 100th post. Tn'T

Congrats on your 100th post! That is a milestone in itself. Sometimes with life we allow things to pull on, get us down, and you are so right to voice that we shouldn't allow negativity to come our way. I too agree with FringeGirl to live life to it's fullest and make everyday count. Life is short, you never know what's around the bend. We should let our family and friends know we love them and appreciate them everyday!

This is my favorite line that you wrote " Failure isn't fatal but missing out on life may as well be". We can't go through life being too afraid to live it. Once again you have put to words what many of us would have liked to say . So happy to have met you , Sue

How would I like to live my life this year? I would have to say...

Abundantly...With my mind overflowing with creativity, my heart overflowing with love and peace and my body overflowing with energy to make all things possible.

This year I would like to be more fearless. I don't want my fears to stop me from trying the things I've always wanted to do...need to do. I'm starting by taking a couple of Gail's workshops. The women I've met in the past couple of months have been such an inspiration to me. Thank you to all!

I loved your words too & your decorations. My goal this year is to give more time to my creative side. Seems like when my juices are flowing someone always needs me somewhere else -- & do in without feeling selfish. Wish me luck! And good luck to you! Jan

Hi! I just hopped on over from jodie's blog to find your inspirational words. Be real is something I have worked on my whole life. It can often times leave you on the outside of the crowd, but eventually people come around and see you for who you are, which is a wonderful thing and feeling! Thank you for sharing your thoughts, words and inspirations with us!

I am adding you to my blogs list today! Your words were so inspirational...something I definitely needed to hear!

I don't have to concentrate on BE REAL...that is something I worked on years ago...and discovered life is so much better when you are REAL! However, your words PARTICIPATE and CREATE hit the target! Those are such big goals for me this year...and you summed it up in two words! My other goal for the year is to TAKE CARE OF MYSELF...MAKE TIME FOR MYSELF! We, as women, all play multiple roles...and I have left myself on the back burner way too long. This is my year to get healthier both physically, emotionally and financially. 2009 is going to be a great year...I am convinced of that! I have all these wonderful new blogging buddies who can help me stay focused on my goals, wants and desires!

Thank you, JWL Sista!

What a beautiful blog and such inspiration! I came over from primitiques and poetry! Congratulations on your 100th post! This year my goal is to take time for myself,I know it sounds selfish, but I really mean ...take time...for the little things in life....
To enjoy the smile of a child...
To greet a stranger as if I knew them forever...
To listen better....
To choose all words wisely....
To savor stolen moments with a cup of tea,
To enjoy friendships formed...
To not only smell the roses...but smell them twice...
To look forward more to tomarrow!

Some of my favorite quotes are:

"Life is not about finding yourself, it is about creating yourself."

and

"It takes courage to grow up and become who you really are."

So, for 2009, I am focused on courageously creating and re-creating my authentic self.

Thanks for the inspiration!

Between the beautiful pictures of glittery shiny lovely things...and the pretty music...that post was a joy to read! I think my goal this year is to "share a laugh with everyone I meet" I figure if you can share a laugh with someone...it makes it hard to be anything but friends.

Hello, Here are my words of wisdom to acompany your beautiful words of the wise.
Perfection is obtained differently in everyones heart. What I might consider perfect someone else might think of it as less than perfect. I agree be real and please your own heart. Do what makes you happy.
Have a great day. Julie

If it is okay to leave some holiday decorations up, then it is also okay to keep wearing my Christmas socks!
